Arkhangelsk Oblast (Russian: Арха́нгельская о́бласть, Arkhangelskaya oblast) is a federal subject of Russia (an oblast). It includes the Arctic archipelagos of Franz Josef Land and Novaya Zemlya, as well as the Solovetsky Islands in the White Sea. Arkhangelsk Oblast also has administrative jurisdiction over Nenets Autonomous Okrug (Nenetsia). Including Nenetsia, Arkhangelsk Oblast has an area of 587,400 km2. Arkhangelsk Oblast, which includes Nenets Autonomous Okrug, borders Kirov Oblast, Vologda Oblast, the Republic of Karelia, the Komi Republic, and the White, Pechora, Barents and Kara seas. Cape Fligely in Franz Josef Land (the northernmost point of Russia, Europe and Eurasia) and Cape Zhelaniya in Novaya Zemlya (the easternmost point of Europe) are both located within Arkhangelsk Oblast.
Arkhangelsk, is my 19th Region in Russian Federal subject cover project. I got this perfectly postmarked cover from Tanya who live in Arkhangelsk. She had offered perfectly postmarked envelopes long back, but I was waiting to get the 'Region of Russia' series stamps to make it more exclusive. You can see the stamp first from left side is written as 'Arkhangelsk Oblast' issued in 1997. I wish to collect all the regions from Russia in the similar ways with 'Regions of Russia' series stamps. Thank You very much Tanya for the perfect cover into my collection.
This is another cover from Arkhangelsk Oblast sent by Tanya. She advised for the postmark to be affixed as legible, It results to get a perfect cover from Arkhangelsk Oblast. Thank You very much Tanya for the big help.
