Republic of Liberia, is a country on the West African coast. Liberia means "Land of the Free" in Latin. It is bordered by Sierra Leone to its west, Guinea to its north and Ivory Coast to its east. It covers an area of 111,369 square kilometers (43,000 sq mi) and has population of 4,503,000 people. English is the official language and over 20 indigenous languages are spoken, representing the numerous tribes who make up more than 95% of the population.
Liberia is one among the rarest country for cover collectors because of its slow working postal system and economic status. From many countries postal service is not available to Liberia including India. I sent these covers to my contact who was working in the postal service section in Monrovia as Marketing manager. but the covers not gone to Liberia from India because of suspended service , then I sent the covers from France with the help of my friend Axel. The packet successfully reached and he sent back to me as registered with my favorite full UPU barcode label on front side. The odd shaped postmark is using in the main post office, rest of the post offices in the country use regular round one. The covers posted from Monrovia, the capital city of Liberia on December 13, 2016 and I received in my hands as Christmas gift on December 26, 2016. Thank You my friend and the postal staff for the great covers from the rarest country.
